Democracy in Action

Year 6 went on a trip to the Houses of Parliament to see our democracy in action.

We were given a guided tour around the Palace of Westminster and were told about the history and workings of Parliament.  This included watching debates in both the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

After our tour, we went to a conference room where we put what we had learned into practice and conducted our own debate to pass our own law. We even had our own ‘Mr Speaker’.

Then our local MP, Andrew Bridgen, came to talk to us about his experiences as an MP and answer lots of questions from us.

More photos from our trip can be found here.
