My name is Dr David Bull (a Doctor of Law, not medicine) and I have been a Governor at New Swannington Primary School since November 2022.  This is my first experience of School Governing Boards though both my wife and daughter have served at other schools and fully recommended it.

I retired in 2022 following a long and varied working career in both the public and private sectors, most recently at the UK arm of an international engineering company.  Most of my experience is from the legal and financial areas of business, though I started my career as an engineer in the RAF and I hope I can bring the benefit of all these experiences to help New Swannington’s continuing development.  With my background, I am currently Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee, taking an interest in school finances.  I am, however, also keen to get involved in other areas and so I’m the Governor responsible for the curriculum areas of PE and Computing and additionally I monitor the school’s management of the Pupil Premium to make sure that it is spent in the best way possible.

I am a strong advocate of lifetime learning but also believe that the early years are the most important in establishing a desire to explore and learn and that all learning experiences should be enjoyable.
