Mrs Andrea Cave - Co-opted Governor & Chair of Governors
Hello, I’m Andrea, Chair of Governors at New Swannington Primary School. I’ve proudly served as a co-opted governor since April 2024, bringing with me nearly a decade of experience as a professional Clerk to Governors at another local primary school.
I’m a working mum and lifelong Whitwick resident, with strong personal ties to New Swannington. My niece currently attends, and my son, who has recently moved on, was a pupil here. Both have Special Educational Needs, and as someone with ADHD myself, I’m deeply committed to inclusion and passionate about supporting children with SEND. I’ve completed a range of specialist training to strengthen my understanding and advocacy in this area.
Professionally, I work as an Operations Officer in the Environmental Protection Team at North West Leicestershire District Council, where I also serve as a Designated Safeguarding Officer. My role involves managing projects, leading teams, and working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, skills I bring to my governance work with pride and purpose.
Outside of work, I’m a Cub Leader with the 4th Coalville Scout Group and enjoy spending time with my family and our dog, Shadow. I love cooking, building Lego creations, and listening to rock and metal music.
New Swannington is a truly special school. Since my son first joined in 2019, I’ve felt part of a warm, welcoming community. The staff are friendly and dedicated, and it’s no surprise that the school maintained its ‘Good’ Ofsted rating, an achievement that reflects the outstanding leadership of Mrs Ramsell and the tireless efforts of the entire team.
But the heart of our school is the children. Their enthusiasm, pride, and joy in learning are a constant source of inspiration. It’s a privilege to support a school where every child is celebrated, included, and encouraged to thrive.
