Welcome to Year 3. Our class teacher is Mrs Carr and our LSAs are Mrs Norton and Mrs Orton. We also have Miss Steadman, who takes us for PE once a week, and Mrs Bithell who takes us for French and Music.
Year 3 is an important transition from KS1 to KS2. The children continue to develop their skills of independence and start to take on responsibilities in the school, such as being register monitors or school councillors. We begin to learn the recorder, try out different sports such as tag rugby, swimming and lacrosse, and use our creative side across the curricular topics. This year is the first time that we are involved in the carol concert, the Vocal-Ease concert in March and the summer production. There is also the opportunity to join a wide range of KS2 extra-curricular clubs.
We study some interesting topics, developing key skills across the curriculum in a stimulating and engaging way. Please click on the Autumn term newsletter link for further information on our curriculum.
As children become ‘free readers’ it is still vitally important that they share their reading with an adult at home. Spellings also need to be practised at home for the test each Friday. Each child has access to a range of subscription websites which support their learning and homework will sometimes be set on these. Details can be found inside their reading records.
Remember, if you have any questions please do come and speak to us. We are a friendly bunch!
