Welcome to EYFS. The class teacher is Mrs Mistry and the LSAs are Mrs Harden and Miss Wardle. In EYFS we use the children’s interests and needs to plan the topics so these change from year to year. Our first topic this year is ‘Once upon a time…’ where the children have been learning by heart, role playing and making stories. We have focused on stories that the children already know, love and have asked for. Next half term our topic will be Stickman by Julia Donaldson. Through this story, the children will learn about seasonal changes and families, as well as early numeracy, literacy and art skills.
On a Thursday, the children are have PE with Miss Steadman and music and French with Mrs Bitthell. They also have time, during the week, in the hall with the EYFS staff for movement and in the ICT suite to learn how to use a computer.
We will be taking part in various trips including a picnic with other schools in the area and a trip to the pantomime. We will have visitors coming in to see us too. What a busy year!
There has already been a reading evening for parents and school will be holding evenings for maths and end of year assessments later on in the year. Here is the link to the phonics sounds mentioned in the meeting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwJx1NSineE
