Hi, my name is Mick Studley (Gramps) and I am a Co-opted Governor at New Swannington Primary School since October 2024.  My areas of responsibilities are Health & Safety, Art and Product Development (Art/PD) and the Parent Forum.

I am 75, living locally and have 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Thea, who attend the school.

During my working life, I was a Police Sergeant with Leicestershire Police and a Deputy Director with Victim Support.  Since then I have been a Trustee, the Chair and currently the Treasurer of a local charity, First Step.  We provide counselling and support for young persons and adult males who have been subjected to sexual abuse.

I am a keen gardener with “O” level woodwork and enjoy a game of golf when the weather permits!  I also enjoy taking Ryan’s dog, Shadow, for regular walks.  If I have time, I also enjoy walking on my own so that I can put the world to rights!!
